Bradford Grammar School Caribbean Cricket Fund Raising

So over 12 month ago, Bradford Grammar School decided to do another tour of the Caribbean, taking in St Vincent & The Grenadines, with their Senior Cricket Team. A tour that would be both educational as well as character building, in mixing with new cultures in their environment  as they play cricket, with some of the local teams of the islands.

With the help of the School Parents Association, they got into action on how they were going to make the tour happen. One of the ways they decided to make this happen was to have a Caribbean Party.

A  Caribbean Party that would be full of colour and with the sound of the Caribbean with the help of the Panama Steel Band.

You could not have a Caribbean Party without Caribbean food, and Awarding Wining Caribbean Chef from Huddersfield, Mr Barrington Douglas of Discovery Bay, provided the authentic taste of the Caribbean. The taste of the Caribbean we experience was enough for me and my family to want to visit Barrington Douglas Restaurant, to get the full experience of his culinary skills very soon, even if its just his Jerk Pork Pies.

Mr Manny Brown provided music all night, with the support of Mr Urvis Mistry who provided all the audio visuals for the night. Manny the DJ defiantly earned his fee for the night, due to some unforeseeable circumstances he had to keep the party going.

This he did with music that got most of the invited guest onto the dance floor, but even more so when they had the competition for the limbo dancing competition.

Another interesting Cricket competition that I have never seen before was of interest to me, that was done by the Cricket Team Manager Mr Andy Smith, with one of his young team members, making the Cricket gesture signs of being out or wide, just like a cricket umpire would do on the field of play. Those who played the game had to guess what the next umpire gesture would be, either Out or Wide.

Not sure, what the auctions eventually did raise, for the benefit of the Cricket Team, but I am sure whatever it was, the cricket team will be in much appreciation on the final figure raised.

With an unusual start to the Caribbean Party Night, in the end it was a success for the School and School Parents Association, along with the help of the sponsors supporting the evening, including Castle Wines Online Ltd who provided many wine drinkers with some quality wine to drink.
